One of the UK’s premier cities, Oxford is famed for its universities, but it offers so much more besides. Foodies will find a hive of independent cafes, restaurants and food shops. There are weekly markets and some diverse street food. Shopaholics will also find plenty to peruse, unique stores, ethical shops and locally owned and run emporiums. There are good transport links, a busy social calendar, live entertainment venues, good schools and plenty of green spaces.
There are several golf courses in the area, gyms, leisure centres, swimming pools, and several theatres. Eating out is a joy with a large selection of restaurants and cafes to sink your teeth into. If you want to get out and about there are a number of great parks and green spaces plus the university city has a very well planned and maintained cycle path network.
The A40 and A34 form a ring road network on the outskirts of the city that add to what is a very good transport hub. Buses serve the local area and cross the city. Anyone commuting to London can be in the capital in less than an hour or Birmingham in 1 hour 2 minutes. And when you do need to escape, Oxford International Airport is the closest quick getaway.
