A historic and charming town, Buckingham wears its past proudly through the lovely architecture, charming street names and traditional events (some dating back centuries), while embracing its place in the modern world.
The biggest event on the events calendar is the Charter Fair, an event that dates back to 1554 and is still going strong. The town also has regular Music in the Market, a Christmas Parade and Fringe Week arts festival. There are two markets a week, with a ‘flea market’ taking place at weekends.
If you’re interested in a new hobby or joining a local group there are a number of societies covering a wide range of interests from arts and theatre to cooking and ceramics. You can stay in shape at the leisure centre that has a gym, swimming pool and regular classes. Plus, good parks and areas to walk, jog, workout or enjoy a picnic.
With easy access to both the M1 and M40 motorways, Buckingham is well positioned. An hour from the M25 there are good routes into London. The nearest train station is in Milton Keynes (approximately 15 minutes by car), which also offers a huge array of shops, a theatre, cinema and live music venues. The closest airport is Luton (45 minutes).
