Southampton Removals

We have helped moved many of our customers to and from Hampshire. With multiple branches all over South West, and one near Southampton in Salisbury, we are well-experienced and well-equipped to help with moves throughout the Hampshire area and further afield.

Southampton is the largest city in Hampshire, acting as major port and cruise departure destination, and the city has easy access to nearby Portsmouth and Brighton. The area has been inhabited since the stone age, but it was the Anglo-Saxons who first made a large settlement there, and named it Hamwic, from which Hampshire gets its name. Southampton is noted for its association with the RMS Titanic (it departed from the city), the Spitfire (tested and built in Southampton), and was one of the departure points for D-Day. A fun fact about the city is that the first fish fingers were tested on shoppers in Southampton by Clarence Birdseye, the founder of the modern frozen food industry, after the Second World War.

Leisure

Southampton boasts a range of events, and shopping centres, to appeal to sports lovers, fashion enthusiasts and music appreciators alike.

In the city is St Marys Stadium, home to Southampton FC (or the Saints if you are a regular). The team itself is high-achieving, well supported squad, with an average attendance for games of 32,000- much higher than rivals Portsmouth and Bournemouth.

Shopping centre West Quay is the place to go if you are a fan of Cath Kidston, Superdry, Apple, or other high-end brands, and also has its own IKEA (other nearest ones being Bristol and Exeter). West Quay also has its own food level, meaning whatever food you are craving, there will be something to suit your needs.

The Mayflower Theatre houses a variety of plays and productions throughout the year. Over Christmas, you can attend one of the pantomimes, which visitors travel from far and wide to watch. Or want something from the West End? Some productions tour and show at the Mayflower.

There’re more than enough fun things to do in Southampton, it will always have something going on you’ll want to get involved in.

Transport

By car, the M27 and M3 all lead to Southampton, and navigating around the city is simple. Access to most major sites of interest is available by walking from the city centre. There are many places to park for long durations of time.

By train, you can get to and from London, Gatwick Airport, Cardiff, Manchester and Brighton all from Southampton. The train services run frequently.

By bus, there are regular services that run to Southampton from nearby towns and cities, and you can get bus service from the train station to the city centre.

By air, you can fly to Southampton airport, which is just a few miles away from the city. From there, you can fly to multiple holiday destinations, and fly in from a range of UK cities.

All these factors mean getting to Southampton is very easy.

Schools

In Southampton, there are 79 state-run schools- including 24 primary schools and 10 secondary schools (2 with sixth-forms), and both the University of Southampton, and Solent University are based in the city. Both Universities together have a student population of over 40,000, and rank highly amongst others in the UK. There are other schools and Universities nearby in Portsmouth, and Bournemouth (and a little further north is Winchester), so the choice is very vast.
