Milton Keynes is a fantastic location with one eye firmly on the future. While it’s street plan might be a source of mickey-taking, it’s actually excellent to navigate and leads to one of the UK’s greenest and most spacious towns. It has an excellent shopping centre, live events, entertainment and everything you could need, right on your doorstep.
From its concrete cows to the football team, ‘MK’ seems to attract controversy but all these details only add to the town’s charms and are fiercely defended by locals.
There are over 160 green spaces for sports, and fitness plus the Redway, a series of cycle and pedestrian paths. In total locals have 5,000 acres of green space to enjoy. Shoppers are also well catered for, as well as the biggest high street names and designers stores, there are fabulous independent shops plus markets and events for fashion, interior design, food, music, comedy and more including the bi-annual MK International Festival.
Getting around Milton Keynes couldn’t be easier, it has a US style grid layout for traffic which makes driving simple (especially if you love roundabouts!). Out of the car there is a large network of pedestrian and cycle paths. The town lies close the M25 and just 30 minutes from Luton Airport. By train you can be in the centre of London in 33 minutes.
