Small but perfectly formed, Theale offers village life with excellent travel connections, access to a motorway, with the shops and nightlife of Reading right on the doorstep (but just far enough away to keep Theale the way it should be).
The town has a colourful and intriguing past, from highwaymen to haunted pubs and a nice variety of local events and independent businesses. There’s also miles of scenery, country walks, canals, lakes and the green, green grass of your new home.
Golf-ists are catered to a tee, with not one but two local courses (Theale and Calcot) and keen anglers really are spoilt for choice too with a number of rivers, lakes, waterways and fisheries in the area. There are also riding centres and stables across the area. If you like the great outdoors without hobbies getting in the way, there is mile after mile of green space for walking, cycling running and relaxing. If retail therapy is your thing, then you’ll find a large retail park just 10 minutes away, with many big names including Next, ikea, Boots, Fat Face, Sainsburys and Dunelm.
8 minutes from Reading (by train) and sitting just off junction 12 of the M4, Theale has superb transport links. Theale station can whisk you off to London in just over half an hour. There is also a canal that runs past the village (if you happen to own your own barge) and cycle routes across the area.
