The little village of Cholderton’s claims to fame seem to be mainly to do with animals.
Cholderton Charlie’s is a rare breeds farm, which attracts thousands of visitors each year. They even host weddings, where you can get married among the Highland cows, donkeys, ponies, alpacas and goats. You can eve take the alpacas for a walk!
The attraction also has indoor and outdoor play equipment, a vineyard, gift-shop, zipwire and café.

The village’s other critter-based claim to fame is international equestrian star Mark Todd, MBE, who set up his yard here. The 1984 Olympic three-day event champion lived in Cholderton with his 13 horses and four staff.
Cholderton sits on the edge of Salisbury Plain in the Bourne Valley, just a quarter of a mile from the Hampshire border. It is a lovely place with flint and brick, thatch and tile homes, mostly along the Marlborough to Salisbury road.
The church of St Nicholas was rebuilt in the 19th century using a mediaeval roof procured from Ipswich by the rector, the Rev Thomas Moyley.

Cholderton House was built in 1690 and the Manor House around 1710. They are both are Grade II* listed.
There’s a lovely farm shop and café here, plus an equestrian centre and a pub, the Crown Inn. The village may be small, but it has a fair few amenities!
Homes don’t often come on to the market in Cholderton. But you can keep your eyes peeled for one here.
The village is about four miles east of Amesbury on the A338 and about a mile off the A303, so it is in a fantastic position for commuters.
Children from Cholderton can attend the primary school in nearby Newton Tony – also famed for its critters (the local RSPCA shelter is here). The school has been judged ‘Good’ by Ofsted.
