    1. No Oxon Here
      The name Oxshott has nothing to do with the bovine beasts, but derives from ocga sceat meaning ‘corner of land’.
    2. It Ain’t Cheap
      It’s also been called the “richest village in England”, in no small part down to the multi-million-mansions of the footballing elite.
    3. ‘shottonians
      Famous residents have included; golfer Colin Montgomerie, footballer John Terry and Jamie Redknapp, leisure club founder David Lloyd, tennis player Sir Andy Murray and racing driver Violette Cordery.
    4. Oxshott FC
      The Daily Telegraph claimed it was, “the village with the most footballers in it”. Perhaps not surprising as Chelsea FC training ground is nearby, but just imagine the line-up Oxshott FC could boast.
    5. Shopaholic
      Sophie Kinsella made Oxshott the hometown of Becky Bloomwood, in her much-loved Shopaholic novels. No, that doesn’t mean you can use that as an excuse, “Well, she started it!”.
    6. Lake Side
      The village once had a thriving brickmaking industry. When the brickworks closed in 1954, the pit was flooded. Clay Pit Lake is believed to be 100 ft deep and contain a submerged workman’s cottage.
    7. Oh Canada
      During WWII the regiment of Canadian engineers, that built the Cabinet War Rooms, were stationed in here.

    Sitting in a delightful corner of the county, even by Surrey standards Oxshott is a little bit special. Great food, high end shops, good restaurants, all within easy reach of London and the South Coast.
