54 Miles West of London this historic market town is one of the oldest inhabited locations in the UK with traces having been found dating the site back over 12,000 years. It was in occupation during the Iron age, Roman occupation and Saxon era. A listed church dates back to 1304 and there is also notable evidence of the area’s wartime past.
Today the thriving commuter town has a busy events calendar, excellent amenities, local independent shops and good schools. There is a football club, hockey, cricket and rugby clubs, sports ground, play areas and riding is also popular in the area.
The nearest cinema can be found in nearby Newbury, Thatcham does have a small theatre run by the local amateur dramatic society that puts on a number of productions each year.
